Female-fronted AOR from Greece is a rare treat and EUPHORIA, consisting of Chrisanthi (v) and Tony Kash (g) make you listen right away. Both are born New Yorkers, though and seem to share a common taste in melodic rock music but with a noticeable contemporary touch. Tracks like the catchy “Edge Of The World“, the up-tempo “Survivors“ or the rather guitar-driven “Heaven’s A Breath Away“ are definitely above average while the ballad “Whisper A Prayer“, for instance, sounds too poppy and cliche all over the place. Nevertheless, there’s plenty of room for a higher rating and that’s mainly because of the album being quite short and having a relatively odd artwork which rather hints at contemporary country or the like than on the actual genre but “Euphoria“ offers a solid production and Chrisanthi is free of accent, too. EUPHORIA is way too good to be put aside. Highlight to me is the highly melodic “Bitter & Wise“. So I’ll keep an eye on them. My feeling is that there’s more to come from Greece in the future…
