Sadly enough for an old school maniac like me, „Light From A Dying Star“ is only available as a digital download or a stream and a little quantity on CD. And why is your contributor making such a fuss about an album he can‘t hold in his hands? Because it‘s some of the best combinations between AOR and progressive rock I heard in many, many years. Not to be confused with the US Band fronted by MARK (MARCIE) FREE, ARRIVAL is the brainchild of James Durand (KEPLER TEN), Kyle Fenton (COSMOGRAF) and LEE ABRAHAM (GALAHAD), who deliver the goods uniting the best of both worlds. Special guests are Richard Cahill, responsible for the excellent guitar sols and Alistair Colwell providing additional keyboards. Musically think JOHN PAYNE fronted ASIA and their excellent effort “Aura“ (2000) mixed with a bit of TEN and you have a clue, which wave the guys are riding. James Durand (whom I never heard before) vocals are the icing of the cake of a wonderful record, which took three years to make. Production is very good as well and I warmly recommend the record to each fan of both genres!
